When Two Are Better Than One

If we were to produce rings, the double ring would surely have a spot in our collection. We love it’s inherently playful form and its ability to deliver twice the impact of the traditional one-finger archetype. The over-the-top versions, such as the Brooklyn Bridge ring pictured below, are obvious statement pieces and light-hearted takes on the brass knuckle-buster. But since we’re not wearing them for self-defense purposes, and because our aesthetic favours a more refined look, we’re definitely leaning toward the more delicate, single-bar examples. The “Lauren” version below (via Lauren Conrad) is another fun and creative way to pick up on the double ring trend!

Put Your Old Headbands Aside….

The popular accessory company ban.do recently launched The Black Label Collection which they tout as their ‘couture collection’ – truly an over-the-top ensemble of their most ornate and elegant headdresses yet. We think that each beautifully crafted piece makes the average headband look unattractively diminutive in comparison. If only we could find weekly occasion to wear such gorgeous show-stopping pieces…but we suppose the average Tuesday would look much brighter if every lady opted for a headdress instead of her usual ponytail.

If you haven’t seen it yet!

We can’t wait!

In Honor of Alexander McQueen

We just came across the Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear Collection by the late Alexander McQueen. We were so drawn to the decorative hair jewelry, which is usually worn by Indian women during wedding ceremonies.
These, like most of his designs are exquisite pieces of art. Alexander McQueen was an incredible designer, famous for is originality and experimental design, and he will be sadly missed.

Lanvin Ribbons

We’ve been quite inspired by ribbons lately and are working on some new ER pieces that mix brass and other components with soft shades of grosgrain. We’ll happily share the new pieces once they’re polished and ready to wear! For now, here are some designer versions of the “ribbon look” courtesy of Lanvin that illustrate different uses for this versatile material.

Mixing Old with New

Thought this outfit from www.karlascloset.blogspot.com was a great example of how to combine vintage jewels with current clothing and accessories. It’s a constant challenge to create an original outfit, so mixing old with new really allows you to create a detailed and unique outfit. Look through your grandma’s jewelry box or check out local thrift stores. You might be surprised at what you find. Then try combining it with some current jewelry (we recommend Edmoure Ralph of course!). We think you’ll love the results.

Here’s what’s shown below: Full gathered grey skirt, worn with a silk polk-a-dot blouse, vintage pins and jewelry, Marc Jacobs staple bag, and Prada crystal sandals. We especially love the Prada sandals, love the shape!

Toronto Fashion Week: Orange by Angela Chen

The Orange by Angela Chen Fall/Winter 2010 show was sure to intrigue any gal who’s seeking classic pieces for her fall wardrobe. We’d especially love to get our hands on one of the many coats, which effortlessly straddled the line between sophisticated work-wear and the everyday basic. Although the clothes were the obvious main-attraction, we couldn’t help but notice a slight sparkle here and there. There was one necklace in particular (pictured first below) that was just gorgeous – a long, layered piece with oversized crystal pear-shaped nuggets dangling at random. It was the perfect compliment to an otherwise minimal ensemble.
